Money spider ID with microscopes

This two-day course takes a deep dive into the identification of Britain's many Money spider (Linyphiidae) species, most of which are less than 3mm long and require microscopic examination for reliable identification. It includes a presentation introducing the morphological features used to identify money spiders, followed by practical sessions exploring a wide variety of different spider specimens, including both common and rare species that can be trickier to find and identify in the field.

Participants will gain confidence in using the identification keys and preserved specimens to identify spiders to family level.

  • Taught by Richard Gallon, head of the BAS national Spider Recording Scheme
  • Certificate upon course completion
  • Please note that this course will involve using specimens that have been killed and preserved

This course is aimed at adults only and course attendees must be at least 18 years old in order to attend.
