Distribution
The species is widespread in much of northern and western Britain, with coastal records in south-eastern England. It is widespread in north-western and central Europe.Habitat and ecology
This spider is found in wet habitats, swampy areas, saltmarshes, and high ground. On the Sidlaw Hills in Angus it has been found to be abundant in both wet grassland and dry heather habitats from August to October at up to 450 m. In comparison, this species is rare in Essex where it seems to be confined to saltmarsh and tidal habitat (P.R. Harvey, pers. comm.). Adult females are found in late summer and autumn.Status
