Distribution

Oecobius navus is a Mediterranean species which has only been recorded inside buildings North of the Alps. In Britain it has been recorded from three localities, in the Natural History Museum, London in the 1970s, in an office at the University of York in 2015 and inside a house in Brighton, in 2018. On the European continent it has been recorded in nature from all of the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea and inside buildings from Germany, the Low Countries and Finland.

Habitat and ecology

In Britain it has only been collected inside buildings. Elsewhere in Europe it is recorded from garrigue, oak woods, heathlands and under stones.

Status

Not assigned. In Britain this is clearly an introduced species, unknown in the wild.
