Distribution
The species is widespread in southern Britain, but very scattered in the west and as far north as central Scotland. It is widespread in western and central Europe.Habitat and ecology
This is a species that is often seen rapidly running in open spaces under sunny conditions. It can be found under stones in quarries and by water-filled pits, in leaf litter, in grasslands and gardens, and in a range of similar situations, often near ants, in both dry and damp conditions. Adult males are found mainly from late spring to mid-summer, females through the summer, persisting until the autumn.Status
