Distribution
The species is widespread in central and south-eastern England, but very scattered or absent elsewhere. It is widespread in western and central Europe, but has not been recorded from Ireland or Scandinavia.Habitat and ecology
This species inhabits wet places including wet grassy meadows, the shores of lakes, gravel pits, sewage filter beds and saltmarsh. It has been recorded from pitfalls on arable land, presumably as an aeronaut (I. Dawson, pers. comm.). Adults have been found at most times of year, but mostly from early to mid-summer and autumn.Status
