Distribution
The species is widespread in England but is apparently absent from parts of the south-west and much of Wales and Scotland. It is widespread in western and central Europe.Habitat and ecology
This spider is found in a variety of lowland habitats, mainly on shrubs and trees, but also on low vegetation and walls. It is less common at higher altitude (Smith 1982; J. Newton, pers. comm.) a situation clearly reflected in the Distribution: map. Both sexes are mature in early to mid-summer though occasionally males can persist to early autumn and females until October.Status
