Distribution
The species is restricted to the Highlands of Scotland. It is a boreo-alpine species in Europe.Habitat and ecology
The species occurs under stones on mountains, usually above 900 m, but down to 300 m in the far north. Adults of both sexes are found from May to September, and possibly most of the year.Status
Common on high mountain-tops and increasing, recorded from 31 hectads since 1992.Threats
In the Cairngorms, damage to vegetation resulting from skiing development and the associated public pressure pose a threat. As with other montane species, climate-change may pose a threat in the longer-term.Management and conservation
