Distribution

The species is widespread in southern England, but otherwise has a very scattered distribution in Britain, with only a few older records from northern England and Scotland. It is fairly widespread in north-western and central Europe, but in Scandinavia apparently recorded only from Norway.

Habitat and ecology

Calcareous grassland and woodland. E. flavipes is mainly found on calcareous grassland and by beating bushes and vegetation in woodland. It is adult in the summer, our data indicating a peak in June.

Status

Recorded from 48 hectads since 1992 and increasing, though uncommon and local.

Threats

Loss of calcareous grassland to intensive agriculture remains a threat, although a declining one, in some areas.

Management and conservation
